This sculptural work by Korean artist Seo Young Deok, using chains of all kinds, but mostly bicycle chains, is completely captivating to me. Gothic yes, and definitely sad (fragments of melancholy looking bodies laying about the place is never a cheery sight), but the skill involved to individually weld chains (by definition the most movable and slippery of metal objects) into these incredibly life-like forms - I find staggering. Mr. Young Deok has just finished exhibiting his first solo show at the INSA/ARKO Art Centre in Seoul. Gutted to have missed it.
